Donor Treatment in Hyderabad

" Let Genesis be the first stop in your search for a good fertility centre in seeking joyful parenthood."

Donor Treatment

Donor treatments are assisted reproductive fertility treatments. For couples presenting with male infertility or for women without a male partner, donor Sperm is the way forward, whereas, for cases when the female partner is unable to produce eggs, the donor eggs can be used to achieve pregnancy.

Both these procedures are third party reproductive treatments and have a fairly high success rate. Let us learn more about them:

Donor Sperm

An eligible male donates his sperm to assist an individual (a single mother) or a couple to conceive a baby. To achieve pregnancy, the sperm can either be injected into the women’s reproductive organs (IUI intrauterine insemination) or can be used to fertilise mature eggs in a laboratory by IVF ( Invitrio fertilisation ) or ICSI ( Intracytoplasmic Sperm injection)

Donor Sperm is suggested when the male partner is either producing few sperms, abnormal Sperm or when his sperms have been unable to fertilise an egg in the past attempts.

Donor eggs

Donor eggs are procured from a fertile woman where in she donates her eggs to help another woman to get pregnant. The recipient woman’s male partner’s sperm is then used to fertilise the egg in the IVF lab through the IVF in-vitro fertilisation or ICSI Intracytoplasmic Sperm injection process. After 3-5 days of fertilisation, when the embryo grows, it is transferred to the uterus of the recipient women.

Why opt for Donor Sperm?

As per the recent reports, donor sperm insemination has a success rate of 10-15% in women under 30 years of age. This success rate is higher and rises to an average of 30% after six cumulative inseminations. If there is no success in the first 3-4 cycles, it is vital to review other causes and combine donor sperm with some other fertility treatment such as IVF for higher chances of success in a shorter time period.

Why opt for Donor eggs?

Donor eggs are most suitable for women with poor quality eggs, low ovarian reserve, or other unexplained infertility, cannot use their eggs to achieve pregnancy. Egg donation is also appropriate in some cases of menopausal women or women who have a premature ovarian failure.

This is a fairly quick procedure and has a success rate of 55-60% (provided there are no other reasons for infertility such as poor quality sperm) and success rate increases to a whopping 80-90% after four repeated cycles.

Thus, donor eggs treatment is a ray of hope to the couples who have had poor egg fertilisation rate in their previous IVF attempts

How does Genesis choose donor Sperm?

As the outcome of the fertility procedures that use donor sperm is highly dependent on the quality of the sperm, we at Genesis are very particular about choosing the same based on the following criteria :

1. Age between 18 to 34 years

2. Infection screening done for Hepatitis B, Hepatitic C, HIV and Syphilis

3. Good quality, quantity, and motility.

4. Screened for medical history and family history to rule out the probability of a hereditary disease.

5. We try our best to choose the donor that matches the recipient’s height, body build, complexion, eye colour, hair colour etc.

6. If need we also match the recipient’s blood group with that of the Sperm donor.
